The Bureau of Meteorology and CSIRO have released their third State of the Climate—a comprehensive report on long-term trends in Australia’s climate observations.

As with earlier reports, State of the Climate 2014 paints a clear picture of scientifically-observed change already affecting long-term climate trends in Australia.

The latest findings show further warming of the atmosphere and oceans in the Australian region, consistent with the global picture. Atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations have continued to rise and continued emissions are projected to cause further warming this century.

The Bureau of Meteorology and CSIRO play a key role in monitoring, measuring, understanding and reporting on weather and climate phenomena. By combining our records and understanding of Australia’s climate, the State of the Climate 2014 makes an important contribution to this work.
