CABLE version 2.0 and Roadmap released
The Community Land Atmosphere Biosphere Exchange (CABLE) model is a land surface model used by CSIRO, the Bureau of Meteorology and a number of universities. CABLE runs as a standalone model, forced with prescribed meteorology, or coupled to an atmospheric model. CABLE was coupled to the Australian Community Climate and Earth System Simulator (ACCESS) model for the ACCESS1.3 simulations submitted to the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP5). Through the Centre of Excellence in Climate System Science, CABLE has also been coupled to the Land Information System (LIS) through which it can run with the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model.
Early in 2012, a Roadmap was prepared for CABLE to guide CABLE development and governance over the 2012-2017 period. The Roadmap has now been published as a CAWCR technical report: see http://www.cawcr.gov.au/publications/technicalreports/CTR_057.pdf
Late in 2012, the CABLE-2.0 code was finalised. This version of CABLE supports standalone and ACCESS applications. Further information is available at https://trac.nci.org.au/trac/cable/wiki
