2 Post-Docs at the Hydrological Research unit, ref no 751

The unit for Hydrological Research works in Sweden, Europe and worldwide with developing forecast and scenario tools for water, climate change impacts, and water quality including fluxes in catchments. Among other things, the work done here aims to improve decision support for physical planning and environmental control, as well as forecasting for flood warning services and the hydropower industry. We work directly with both external end-users and SMHI’s more operational divisions.

We are now looking forward to employ two new hydrological scientists for large-scale modelling to: 1) help setting up the HYPE model for new geographical domains in cooperation with others in the group; 2) improve seasonal forecasting through data assimilation using Earth Observations. You will mainly work on quality assurance of input data, uncertainty analysis, calibration methods and routines for updating/assimilation. PhD in hydrology and good knowledge in programming, handling large amounts of data and GIS are requirements. The job includes programming, analysis and scientific publication.

The positions are temporary, starting during summer 2016 and ending in summer 2018. The positions are based in Norrkoping.

Your Profile

We are looking for goal oriented colleagues, passionate about their work, who likes to work both independently and with others. You should be a good communicator, in both spoken and written Eng lish. Your background should include a doctoral degree, which has given you good knowledge of hydrological processes, scientific work and dynamic modelling. You must already have a work permit for Sweden (which is the case for EI_J citizens).
