Near-surface wind speed data for Australia

This dataset provides Australia-wide daily mean wind speed grids at 0.01° (~ 1 km), 0.05° and 2° resolutions. These are created by interpolating measurements from the Bureau of Meteorology anemometer network for 1975–2012. It is currently updated annually, January each year.

The original point data were supplied by the Australian Bureau of Meteorology, specifically we used the Australian Daily Wind Data Product IDCJC06.200706 for years up to 2006, since then staff the Australian Bureau of Meteorology have been providing annual updates.
